The game, which is already available in Japan under the name Judge Eyes, isn’t going to be censored in the West when SEGA brings over the Yakuza devs’ newest game.
Dengeki Online released a lengthy interview with Kouji Yoshida (the director of Judgment) and Masao Kinosaki (planning supervisor). They mention how Judgment is different from Yakuza, trying to encourage newcomers (those who haven’t played Yakuza games) to give this game a shot. The localisation also got mentioned – how will Judgment differ from Judge Eyes? Yoshida’s answer follows: „There are no changes to the game’s content in the western version. The only differences are how we’re recording an English dub, and all of the lip synchronizations is being remade to fit it.”
So there will be no censorship, even though there are naked men and women in it. We have yet to see what Sony says, though, as instead of Nintendo, it’s their turn now to either censor games (Senran Kagura Burst Renewal, Date A Live Dragon Star Varnir) or outright not release games in the West, even though they have an English language option (Dead or Alive Xtreme 3). (In Japan, the sexual fanservice is common and widely accepted. In that country, it’s perfectly okay for games to have drawn female characters with either big breasts or be nude.)
The PlayStation 4-exclusive Judgment is set to launch this summer in the West.
