The rapper says one thing, and Epic Games, the devs of Fortnite, says something else… who should we believe?
We can hardly believe Soulja Boy – he tried selling overpriced Chinese emulation machines, and initially, it seemed that Nintendo has stopped him, only for him to return with a PlayStation Vita-lookalike that barely runs Game Boy Advance games. He also sold an NES-on-a-chip handheld with a cartridge slot. All of these products are gone; his website, Souljawatch (), has become unavailable.
Recently, he showed up on Everyday Struggle, where he defended himself saying that he has all the rights for the games on his consoles (yeah, sure…), then he got a question about Fortnite – will it be playable on his next console or not? He said yes. (We’d rather not comment on the „800 PlayStation 4 games” comment, though.)
What does Epic Games say about the situation? DualShockers contacted them, and Nick Chester, Epic’s senior PR manager, replied with the following: „No, you can’t play Fortnite on a rooted or jailbroken device due to anti-cheat measures.” (With this response, he effectively called this new, unseen platform an Android console – rooting or jailbreaking are mobile terms, meaning the original operating system gets modified to be capable of running illegal/unlicensed applications. And we haven’t seen a Chinese iOS console yet…)
Who can keep track of Soulja Boy’s stupidity?
