NINTENDO NEWS – Rumors about the Metroid Prime game that was announced many years ago are promising a new story for Samus Aran.
Reece “Kiwi Talkz” Reilly (who also works as a developer) took to Twitter to report what he heard during a Nintendo Switch 2-focused broadcast, where the Japanese company will likely reveal how much they’re asking for the next-gen hardware and when it will be available. Of course, the broadcast won’t just be about the hardware, but the Japanese company will also have to talk about the games. And there will be some surprises.
According to Reilly, there’s a reason why Nintendo and Retro Studios haven’t said much about Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. According to him, the real reveal of the game will be the star of the Nintendo Direct at the upcoming presentation and will trump everything else. Although Reilly warned that Nintendo tweaks Direct presentations up until the last minute, he stated with 90% confidence that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will be part of the broadcast. Judging by Reilly’s choice of words, it looks like the game will get a big showcase.
In less than a month in the Switch 2 direct you’ll see that Nintendo & Retro were keeping their cards close to their chest with Metroid Prime 4 for this exact moment. The true unveiling will blow everything else in the direct out of the water. pic.twitter.com/QuxP6i6dhA

If the planned cross-gen Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is to be the most spectacular title revealed during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, the next-gen version will have to feature significant graphical improvements over the version running on the aging Switch hardware (something we saw with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild; it was one of the Nintendo Switch’s opening titles and the last big launch for the Wii U). It’s conceivable that the extra power of the Switch 2 will be used to not only improve image quality and frame rate, but also to add modern features like ray-tracing reflections. Only time will tell if this is indeed the case.
During the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, they’re sure to touch on another new 3D Mario platformer, Mario Kart 9, which was hidden in the Switch 2’s January launch video, and possibly a new Super Smash Bros. title could also get some attention. The short teaser for Mario Kart 9 showed a total of 24 players/characters racing around the track. In contrast, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe limited the number of players/characters to a maximum of 12. In the sequel, it looks like that number could double, thanks to the increased processing power of the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware.
The Nintendo Switch 2-themed Direct will take place on April 2. Until then, it’s all just a rumor!
