Is The Witcher Books' Writer Getting More Money From CD Projekt RED After All?

Andrzej Sapkowski‘s demands might be successful.

Previously, we discussed how CD Projekt RED struck a deal over a decade ago with the novels’ writer that he gets one lump sum of payment (roughly 9350 dollars in Polish zloty), and he would not get any more cash from the devs. Meanwhile, The Witcher-trilogy has become a wide success, and Sapkowski (who lost the opportunity to get far more money than he initially got) began demanding more royalties, but the Polish dev team has said no before.

Now, Puls Biznesu reports that Sapkowski and CD Projekt RED has reached an amicable agreement – the writer will get some money, but it will not as much as his initial demand mentioned. The goal here is to keep a good relationship between the two parties.

The whole situation could have been dodged if Sapkowski offered a percentage deal to CDPR, meaning he’d have received a fixed amount of the income, but initially, he was quite pessimistic about the game…
