PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds: The Nepalese Ban Is Over!

Nepal’s Supreme Court has decided to suspend the battle royale game’s ban.

Recently, two countries have decided to ban at least one of the popular battle royale games – while Iran banned not only PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds but Fortnite as well, Nepal only banned access to the former game. (We wrote about both subjects.) The Himalayan Times reports that the country’s Supreme Court asked the government to provide a good reason why the popular battle royale game got banned.

Justice Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada referred to Article 17 of the country’s constitution, which guarantees freedom of expression, and it also explains instances where it can be curtailed. However, the government’s ban has violated this article. If you remember, last week, the government banned PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds because they believe it took the children’s attention away from housework and school homework, while also making the addicted players act violently, but the government’s telecommunications’ regulatory body’s deputy director couldn’t provide examples of such cases.

So in Nepal, „PUBG” can be played legally again, but if the government can bring up something against the game (as four Indian cities could do in the past), then they could succeed with the ban. Until then, the battle royale craze goes on.
