[E3 2019] There’s No Year Without FIFA: What Are FIFA 20’s Improvements? [VIDEO]

If you expect FIFA Street to return… well, you might not be disappointed that much.

The reason why we say it is that Electronic Arts‘ blog post reveals a new addition called Volta. This term, which means „to return” in Portuguese, is effectively FIFA Street „light,” as the stadiums are replaced by streets and cages, where your customizable player (male/female, tattoos, hairstyle, gear, celebrating emotes) can defeat others by even using the walls to your advantage.

Completing the challenges gets you gear (shirts, shoes, sweaters), and for the locations, the ones we know so far are an underway in Amsterdam, a cage in London, and a rooftop in Tokyo. Modes? 3v3 Rush (no goalie), 4v4, 4v4 Rush, 5v5, and professional futsal, but there’s more. Let’s see what the post says:

  • Volta Kick-Off: Take your favourite professional teams back to the streets and compete in a number of Volta locations and match formats. […]
  • Volta World: Build up your Volta team by playing through Single Player Matches against community generated squads in a variety of formats and locations. After each victory, recruit a player from the opposing team and build your squad up in terms of both skill and chemistry.
  • Volta Story: Take your unique player through a narrative-driven experience, where you face off against various legends of street football from around the world […] culminating in the Volta World Championship tournament in Buenos Aires.
  • Volta League: Play your way through promotion and relegation with the online Volta League. The new player versus player formats places your team against others online, where wins lead to promotion into a higher division.

As always, there are multiple formats of FIFA 20. These are the following:

Standard Edition ($59.99) – September 27 – pre-order bonuses:

  • Up to three FIFA 20 Ultimate Team Rare Gold Packs (1 Per Week For 3 Weeks)
  • Choose one of five mid-version ICON Items for 5 FUT matches
  • Special Edition FUT Kits

Champions Edition ($79.99) – September 24

  • Three days early access (play from September 24)
  • Up to 12 FIFA 20 Ultimate Team Rare Gold Packs (one per week for 12 weeks)
  • Choose one of five mid-version ICON Items for 5 FUT matches
  • Special Edition FUT Kits

Ultimate Edition ($99.99) – September 24 – Pre-order before August 5th and you’ll receive:

  • Untradeable FUT 20 Ones to Watch Player Item
  • Three days early access (play from September 24)
  • Up to 24 FIFA 20 Ultimate Team Rare Gold Packs (two per week for 12 weeks)
  • Choose one of five mid-version ICON Items for 5 FUT matches
  • Special Edition FUT Kits

FIFA 20 will launch on September 24 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. (So the PS3 and X360 versions are dead.) If you get the Champions or Ultimate version, you’ll get to play from September 24 instead.

The sad part is that the Nintendo Switch version is already announced as a Legacy Edition, which means it’ll just be the previous game reskinned with a roster change (updating teams to resemble the real events). What a shame.
