Mike Pondsmith makes it clear that it would have to adapt to the world of Cyberpunk 2077 film to create a great movie.
The actor Keanu Reeves to appear in Cyberpunk 2077 has led some to think about a possible video game adaptation to the world of film, and nobody better than the author of the original Board game to talk about the matter. Is it possible that we will see Cyberpunk on the big screen? Mike Pondsmith says that cannot talk about “the filming rights”, but still he thinks, that the fact of seeing Keanu Reeves in the team makes “the existence of a film more than a possibility”.
Questioned about the approach that it would have this supposed film of Cyberpunk, the great author stressed that his favorite film is Blade Runner, “but I recognize that it is a cerebral film and 2049, its sequel, is even more cerebral.” A film would not thus get other people to come and understand it. But at the same time nor is to create only an action film,”says Pondsmith. “We will find a compromise with Cyberpunk”, in the same way that it has been done with the video game. “Over the years I’ve noticed is that you have to adapt to the environment to be more effective in your goals.” What I do in the table games is very different from what you would do in a video game. And that would change if you ever do a film. I hope see will be different”, concludes.
