New rumours surfaced: it seems that the first Red Dead Redemption, which came out in 2010, might be coming out on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Project Scarlett in the form of a remake.
According to the rumour, the Red Dead Redemption remake is planned to come out in either late 2020 or early 2021, and – as a surprise – it might also show up on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One! It might bring over some elements from the second game to make the remake’s gameplay slightly closer aligned to Red Dead Redemption 2‘s. Rob Wiethoff, the voice of John Marston, has returned to record voice acting to tie the story of the two games together, and while we don’t know if the other actors have received a recall, knowing Rockstar Games, we can think that this is the case.
The game’s map (world) will be bigger than the base Red Dead Redemption, which is understandable, as the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 did not have as much power as the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, but Red Dead Redemption 2’s map will NOT be in the remake of the first game, which was initially planned to launch on the tenth anniversary of the original release (which would be May 18, 2020 in North America, and May 21, 2020 in Europe), but there’s a possibility that some difficulty in the development might have pushed it over to 2021. (Let’s be frank – they are waiting for the next-gen consoles’ launch, and they will NOT come out in May. The Xbox has been confirmed to target the holiday season, meaning it might launch in November 2020 or so.) A portion of the Red Dead Online team has also been shifted over, which is questioning the rumour’s credibility. Red Dead Online, as well as Grand Theft Auto Online, is printing money. Why would Rockstar do it? Sure, the Western online is a little slow, but we don’t know.
Of course, all this is unofficial – the source claims they heard it from an environment artist at Rockstar Games. Take it with a huge grain of salt.
