At Gamescom – aside from three trailers -, Gamescom shared more details about Gears 5, and we still can’t get over that the game’s name got shorter…
„The world is crumbling. Humanity’s reliance on technology has become their downfall and enemies are uniting to wipe out all survivors. As Kait, you must journey across the biggest, most beautiful Gears [of War] world to uncover the origins of the Locust and fight with your squad to protect what’s left. Play solo or with a friend in local split-screen co-op, or online co-op. Battle alongside your friends anywhere with cross-play between Xbox One and PC. Skim across glaciers, sail over deserts and descend into sunken ruins to discover the largest and most diverse Gears world ever created. Play every mode in 4K Ultra HD resolution with stunning HDR at a smooth 60 frames per second. Additional features, co-op and competitive modes still to be announced.,” Microsoft’s press release says.
That’s not all: The Coalition (the developers) revealed a Horde mode trailer at Gamescom – it needs no explanation, really. There’s also going to be a Halo: Reach character pack DLC, which is in Gears 5’s Ultimate Edition and the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate by default. It contains Emile and Kat as multiplayer characters, and the Halo: Reach Noble Team Jack skin, banner, Blood Spray, and Team Mark. It’s surprising to see the developers lift things over from Halo: Reach of all games. The third video is for the game’s campaign. It’s safe to say that Microsoft considers this game as one of the big exclusive titles.
Gears 5 is out on September 10 on Xbox One and Windows 10. (It’s also going to be in the Xbox Game Pass subscription service, too.)
