[GC 2019] Death Stranding: Urinating Is Apparently Important [VIDEO]

As we got used to it, Hideo Kojima‘s game, Death Stranding will be weird. Perhaps too weird.

At Gamescom, three videos of Death Stranding were shown. On the first one, a character named Mama (portrayed by Margaret Qualley) is introduced. Kojima says that many characters will appear in the game, and each will have their sub-story separate from the main plot. In Mama’s case, her baby was born on the „other side,” and they are connected only by an umbilical cord. Thus, she is unable to leave her location because that is where her baby exists on the other side. In the second video, Deadman is introduced. He is portrayed by Guillermo del Toro. He explains a few details about the BB (Bridge Baby) Pod. It is connected to the world of the dead, which enables the connection between the BB and Sam. We’ll travel with the BB to build a connection, as it is an essential part of the gameplay.

The third video shows gameplay… and Sam taking a leak, which results in a mushroom growing out of the grass. (Kojima says that if many people urinate at the same place, something good might happen later…) In this video, we see a cameo (one of many!), featuring Geoff Keighley, who runs The Game Awards. Sam’s baby starts to cry, and then, it has to be calmed by using the motion sensors of the DualShock 4 – if you happen to shake too fast, it will become upset.

We’ll have to connect the fractured cities and people from east to west while avoiding terrorists for example. During your journey, you’ll encounter people in hiding called Preppers, who will not have anything in relation to the main plot, but they might provide something useful if you „connect” to them. When the players start to connect as such in Death Stranding, somehow they will notice you are connected to others throughout the world… but Kojima didn’t explain how this works. About urination: we will not be able to turn the camera to see Sam urinate, as he will always turn away before the camera reaches him. He can’t also urinate with other people around him.

Death Stranding is out on November 8 on PlayStation 4, but there’s a possibility that it might launch on PC later due to no exclusivity text on the box art…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
