Is Electronic Arts Planning A Return To Steam? [VIDEO]

After Electronic Arts having put its focus on Origin for multiple years, the newest games of the publisher haven’t been available on Gabe Newell’s platform – the situation could change, though.

Electronic Arts published a weird video on Twitter. Let’s take a look at it:

This video doesn’t say much, does it? There’s a mug with a liquid substance that is so hot it is steaming. Steaming, Steam – get the hint? They are silently hinting at a possible return to Steam. (The last Electronic Arts game on Steam was effectively Crysis 2 in 2012. Battlefield 3 from 2011 has already been an Origin-exclusive, and Crysis 2 was added back a year later, as that was taken off then.)

There’s also this tweet, which reveals that Electronic Arts is about to initiate a tricky move by launching Origin applications (or games) via Steam. (Ubisoft has already been doing that for years with UPlay. However, recently, they decided to team up with the Epic Games Store instead for exclusivity deals…)

Speaking of Steam, its newest client’s beta version has started asking players if they want to revise their previous reviews on Steam or not, IF they played several hours of the said game after publishing that review. There are several examples discussed on Reddit – one user played 97 hours of Destiny 2, another one played 63 hours of Hitman 2, and they seemingly got the prompt at a random point, and it’s not sure how many hours are needed to trigger the review revision popup.

It is an excellent idea: there are several Steam reviews (both positive and negative) that were written after less than a single hour of gameplay, which might not be fair to the game itself (unless it’s a shovelware asset flip that is sold on Steam for less than a dollar).
