PlayStation Plus: How Will We Start 2020? [VIDEO]

After PlayStation Plus taking a sharp decline in 2019 (no more PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita games, just two PlayStation 4 titles without anything else), the question is reasonable: will there be a chance to improve, or there will not be any stronger games until the PlayStation 5’s arrival?

The announcement is just partially official. It sounds weird, yes, but we already know via a reliable source what the two January PlayStation Plus titles will be. This time, it’s PlayStation’s DACH YouTube channel (DACH covers effectively the German-speaking lands, mainly Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) that managed to reveal the pair of games prematurely, so we don’t have to wait until the official reveal. (Perhaps some people had too much fun yesterday?)

So the two games mean four this time around once again. The first one is Embracer Group-owned Coffee Stain Studios’ Goat Simulator, which could be fun for a short period, it’s been available on PlayStation 4 for more than four years, plus, going by the trailer, it could be the base version of the game. The other game is another collection: it is Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, which contains the first three Uncharted games in a PlayStation 4 remaster (done by Bluepoint Games). So you get four games again, but many PS4-owners probably played Nathan Drake’s adventures on PS3 or bought the compilation on PS4 (as it’s often cheap), so we can say that Sony went cheap once again.

The start of the year isn’t promising – this month’s PlayStation Plus line-up is only useful for those who haven’t played the Uncharted games yet and they want to give it a shot (Nathan Drake’s story ended in 2016 with Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End). Let’s hope Sony won’t do another last-second change, as that would make us slightly angry: the video we wanted to embed has been made unavailable during writing…
