Cyberpunk 2077 – It’s one of the open secrets: it’s not confirmed, yet everyone knows about it.
On Reddit, a private Twitter conversation was shared with the Twitter account of Cyberpunk 2077: „Hi, I’ve seen you sometimes reply to messages on here, so I figured I would ask: with the new consoles coming out later this year, will this game be released on them?” And the answer was „Possibly, however current generation is our main focus at the moment.”
And this response falls in line what the Polish studio said back in November: „Of course we do have insight into what’s around the corner, into what’s happening with PlayStation and Xbox, and we are watching it closely, and one may probably safely assume that at some point we may do something with next-gen, however, we cannot really be very specific what that may be, when exactly that may be.” So what they wrote on Twitter is still following the „later, but not now” idea – they are waiting for a bit, which makes sense.
Meanwhile, in the PlayStation 4-exclusive Dreams, which is being developed by LittleBigPlanet-creator Media Molecule (it will leave early access on February 14, and it’s a „create your game” game), has its PlayStation (PS1!) demake of Cyberpunk 2077 called Cyberpunk 1997. In Dreams, you can create your games, assets, mechanics, music, art, and many more, so it’s not surprising to see CD Projekt RED‘s in-development game getting „Dreamsified.” You can see a video below.
„During our beta, we saw players create such an incredible range of things. Clever puzzle platformers, moody first-person adventures, gorgeous interactive paintings, super charming movies and so many other amazing things. Even though it’s what we’d hoped for – we had no idea how ingenious and wonderful the results would be (and our eyes may have watered a little),” Media Molecule’s studio director, Siobhan Reddy, wrote last year.
Cyberpunk 2077 is out on April 16 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. A Google Stadia port follows later, and the multiplayer component is also getting added later.
