2018 God Of War’s Dev Team Teasing Its Next Project

Sony Interactive Entertainment Santa Monica is already working on something – there is no doubt about it.

God of War launched as a PlayStation 4-exclusive on April 20, 2018. The adventures of Kratos and Atreus can still be considered a high-quality game, and it’s probably going to continue, as its somewhat secret ending has such a large cliffhanger that we can’t even find the words for it. However, that was almost two years ago (and since then, dad and son collected a ton of game of the year awards, and many other recognitions…), so Sony Interactive Entertainment Santa Monica now has the time and resources to do something.

It’s already happening behind the scenes, as on Twitter, we see Kim Newman in a motion capture (mocap) suit. Who she is is important (she’s a narrative animator at SIE Santa Monica…), and she has to wear this motion capturing suit for a reason. The timing is suspicious: the tweet and the photo were posted on January 10, about 1-1.5 months before a rumoured PlayStation 5 reveal event.

This timeframe could allow the developers to put together a trailer for their next game, and it could include Newman’s work as well. Then, Sony could reveal what the Santa Monica studio could be doing at its PlayStation 5 event. Yesterday, we discussed another bunch of PS5 rumours, and it said that the team is going to release a new IP called Legendz as the start of the next console generation. (However, this is mere speculation. They might be doing God of War 2 after all.)

Meanwhile, Sony is rumoured to hand over the work on the Destination PlayStation event to a major distributor, according to a journalist called Mike Futter on Twitter. This closed-doors event is held for retailers and publishers, and it’s usually held in February. The timing is suspicious.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
