Warcraft III: Reforged Breaks A Negative Record!

Blizzard‘s remaster has backfired: the players are tearing Warcraft III: Reforged apart.

At the time of writing, Warcraft III: Reforged has 21678 user reviews on Metacritic. On a 1-10 scale, though, the game stands at a lowly 0.5! This is such a low average that Blizzard’s game has the lowest user score ever on the site (which no longer has competition from GameRankings, as it was closed last year)! Previously, Day One: Garry’s Incident had a lower average (0.4), but several 10/10 reviews came in to push its average up to 0.7. (All just to give Warcraft this disappointing record…) As a comparison, Metal Gear Survive, which also wasn’t a fan favourite in 2018, has an average of 1.2 out of 10.

Let’s see a few user reviews: „Worst remaster in the history of remasters.”; „Blizzard disabled my old Warcraft 3 version and [they are] trying to force me to download additional 30 GB (my game was only 2 GB). Also, I heard you no longer have the option to play maps that had custom models (like Pokémon, Naruto and Dragon Ball Z), not to mention they removed custom campaigns and LAN games. 0/10!”; „Blizzard has a paragraph in the user agreement for this game that they have exclusive rights to any custom game which is made in this game. Just unbelievably **** from one of the companies who used to be my #1 by miles. This game does not deliver on what it promises and I am not even going to start on the price (40$) on what is essentially an HD mod.”

Blizzard is hitting another low in the eyes of fans, and it’s been the trend since November 2018. Since the announcement of Diablo: Immortal (let’s just say that announcing a mobile game in a mainly PC-focused series isn’t a good idea…), the critiques’ voice are getting stronger, and last year’s Blitzchung-scandal just added fuel to the fire. (He openly expressed his support towards the Hong Kong protesters during a Hearthstone eSports tournament, resulting in him getting banned.)

How will Blizzard come back from all this?
