Epic Games Stands By GeForce Now

GeForce Now – Although Activision Blizzard, Bethesda, and 2K Games/Take-Two don’t trust Nvidia’s game streaming service, Epic Games and its leader, Tim Sweeney, do.

Sweeney wrote several tweets about GeForce Now, which had just bad news in the past month. Let’s see what the head of Epic Games wrote: „Epic is wholeheartedly supporting NVIDIA’s GeForce Now service with Fortnite and with Epic Games Store titles that choose to participate (including exclusives), and we’ll be improving the integration over time. It’s the most developer-friendly and publisher-friendly of the major streaming services, with zero tax on game revenue. Game companies who want to move the game industry towards a healthier state for everyone should be supporting this kind of service!” That’s a surprisingly positive comment from him.

He then moved on to blast both Google and Apple: „Cloud streaming services will also be key players in ending the iOS and Google Play payment monopolies and their 30% taxes. Apple has decreed that these services aren’t allowed to exist on iOS, and therefore aren’t allowed to compete, which is megalomaniacal and won’t stand. Just waiting till later this year when Google is lobbying against Apple for blocking Stadia from iOS, while Google blocks GeForce Now, xCloud, and Fortnite from Google Play and

“this whole rotten structure begins collapsing in on itself.”

These are harsh words from Sweeney, but we have to point out that he wants an open and fair system and competition, which isn’t possible on both Apple and Google devices (which is why he mentioned the blocked services). We have to point out that Epic Games Store doesn’t have many supported titles (you can stream your library games from Steam or EGS with a powerful cloud PC in GeForce Now), but he expressed interest in expanding the library.

It’s surprising to see Sweeney stand by Nvidia.
