A „Warner Bros. Direct” Due To E3’s Cancellation?

Warner Bros. Interactive was planning to have a press conference at E3!

E3 will not be held this year, but we have discussed this subject earlier today – a few companies are already planning alternatives. Warner is going to do the same if Kotaku’s Jason Schreier is to be believed. We’ve heard a few rumours about Warner – such as the new Batman IP (as Batman: Arkham Origins developer Warner’s Montreal studio’s game doesn’t seem to be a new Arkham title but a reboot), and even Harry Potter is rumoured to get a new, open-world game (which got a video leaked one or two years ago). It is rumoured to be developed by the ex-Disney Infinity dev Avalanche Software, with RPG elements. (Hmmm…)

Thus, no wonder that Schreier believes Warner would have decided to hold a press conference for the first time at E3. WB Interactive’s two aforementioned games would also have been joined by whatever Rocksteady Studios is developing. (They are also rumoured to do a few things, but it’s likely going to be a DC Universe title.)

„While the ESA is trying to come up with a way to continue E3 digitally, many game companies/publishers have decided to try their own thing similar to Nintendo’s “Nintendo Direct”. Warner Bros is one of these companies,” Emre Kaya, an entertainment insider, wrote on Twitter. Another tweet from Emre from January might mean that since E3 is not going to be held in June, the game(s) might be revealed in May…

So the gaming industry is digitalising itself. Don’t be surprised to see many Twitch/YouTube streams in the next few months with a ton of announcement. And look, Sony’s idea is coming to be a good thing: the fact that they started to clone Nintendo’s streams earlier, and that they don’t participate at E3, now puts them in a good spot.
