Resident Evil 8: Back To The Past With The Village Tour?

New rumours have surfaced about Resident Evil 8 – at this rate, we’ll know everything about it by the time Capcom announces it.

„The divisive appearance of Chris Redfield in the finale (and the Not A Hero DLC) of Resident Evil 7 set a rough precedent for recurring characters in the new (RE) engine. Thankfully, the remakes have since fixed that worry, but Chris has yet to appear since. According to the leak, Chris will be playing an integral part in 8. He appears in flashbacks surrounding Ethan, Mia, and their baby. What this baby has to do with the narrative is as of yet unclear. That being said, Chris doesn’t seem to be looking very heroic this time around. It appears that in a flashback sequence Chris can be seen shooting one of them while breaking into their home,” Biohazard Declassified writes.

The game would be called Resident Evil 8: Village, with the roman number VII (7) would be shown more prominently in the subtitle, effectively relating to the events of Resident Evil 7. Speaking of RE7, Capcom seems to be planning to mix its inventory system with the one we saw in Resident Evil 4: „Also, it seems that Capcom is playing with the concept of inventory management again. The email suggests that they are testing both a Resident Evil 7 style UI alongside a Resident Evil 4 style. Which is interesting to note considering all the buzz about a Resident Evil 4 remake. Maybe it is likely as well?” (Please don’t: Resident Evil 4, which started as a GameCube-exclusive, has been ported to virtually everything since, maybe except for toasters.)

The rumours also say that the new Resident Evil would launch in the first quarter of 2021. Since the launch of Resident Evil HD Remaster (0, 7, 2 Remake, and with a few days later, 3 Remake and Resident Evil Resistance), virtually every RE game launched in this period. Thus, it could make sense, but the coronavirus could delay it.

Keep in mind that nothing is official yet. Capcom might announce the game (which is allegedly started life as Resident Evil Revelations 3) later this month, though. If they do, we’ll get back to it.
