Silent Hill Reboot: A Reveal In May?

Sony may take the chance to not only showcase the PlayStation 5 in May but also introduce the rumoured Silent Hill soft reboot to us.

The franchise has been in the news for a while, but Konami has recently said that it’s all fake news. Still, we have heard from multiple sources by this point that Silent Hill is going through a soft reboot with Sony financing most of the development on Konami’s IP, which would be a PlayStation 5-exclusive for this title (as rumours say Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Studio is developing it with multiple ex-Team Silent members).

„To the talk about a remake or new entry and such, I’ve heard from pretty much every person who may know the title that this is a soft reboot, which as many say lot of the series is anyways but they’re going a bit further with it this time. At the moment in development they’re thinking of just calling the game, “Silent Hill”, it won’t have any numbers or anything and be made so it can easily be a person’s first entry in the series,” AestheticGamer has previously written in a lengthy post.

The other person that has been talking about Silent Hill on the ResetEra forums is KatharsisT, who said the following: „It’s too calm here. It won’t last long.” When the user was asked if the game’s reveal is happening shortly, the response was „MAYbe,” hinting at a reveal in May. And they added that they could be sacrificed if the rumours about Silent Hill are false. Tough words.

So we should suspect that Sony is planning to showcase the PlayStation 5 in May, as we haven’t heard much of PS5 titles (Godfall, Quantum Error…), and they might confirm several titles as well, including Silent Hill. Then again, it’s unconfirmed for now, but seeing how the survival horror genre is going through a revival (mostly kicked off by P.T. in the summer of 2014), it’d be good if Resident Evil got an old competitor.

The PlayStation 5 will launch this Holiday season, and if that is the case, the Xbox Series X will also follow suit.
