Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2: Back To The Past?

CI Games has already announced the sequel to Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts. Are we getting annual releases…?

We have our doubts: they announced on Twitter that the next game is coming and that we should „seek justice.” They did not say ANY further details, aside from the fact that Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and it will launch this autumn.

But what’s this turn back to the past? Well, CI Games hasn’t been in the news in a positive context for a while. Remember Lords of the Fallen 2’s fiasco? The game was first planned to launch in 2017. Then, in 2018, we heard that Defiant Studios entered as a new developer. In May 2019, we wrote about how CI Games kicked them out the door, meaning the budget Souls clone’s development has been moved in-house. Since then, we heard nothing about the game.

Let’s add the history of the company. Previously, it was known as City Interactive, releasing a lot of budget games. They did strike gold with Sniper: Art of Victory, which got a sequel called Sniper: Ghost Warrior. It then got two more sequels, followed by a return to a smaller, focused experience in Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts. (Let’s say that Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3‘s bigger open world caused more issues than positives, and the game was released in sub-par quality…)

Let’s hope that CI Games isn’t going back to making cheap games. However, it is too early to judge it, as all we have about the new game is a single image that isn’t even an in-game, gameplay screenshot but something that shows the game’s logo…

Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 launches this Fall on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Let’s hope that CI Games will get its act together to work on Lords of the Fallen 2…
