Hyper Scape Has An Obvious Tribute To Assassin’s Creed Unity

The artist who was responsible for creating the digital copy of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris in Assassin’s Creed Unity is now a member of the Hyper Scape artist team.

Hyper Scape, Ubisoft’s response to the popular battle royale genre, appeared this week, and anyone who played the game could face a building called Throne Hall, a one-on-one replica of Notre-Dame. The Spanish magazine 3DJuegos spoke about this with Chris Pope, the game designer for Hyper Scape, and discussed the presence of the iconic building in Neo Arcadia, and they had to realize that it was a conscious and deliberate tribute to Assassin’s Creed Unity, namely there it can also be seen as a virtual representation of the historic building.

“By this point pretty much everything has been done from scratch for Hyper Scape, but we left Notre-Dame as a tribute.” – Chris Pope, game designer for Hyper Scape

Chris Pope said in an interview that when the concept and development began, technological and artistic elements from other games in the company were used, and although the game started on its own path over time, everything was rebuilt from scratch for it, the Notre-Dame Cathedral was left on the map as a sort of tribute to Assassin’s Creed Unity. Moreover, as Pope explained to the Spaniards, the man who worked as artistic director at Unity’s Notre-Dame Cathedral is now also strengthening Hyper Scape’s artistic team, so the team decided to keep the iconic building in the game, paying tribute to the 2014 AC.

The incredibly detailed Parisian Notre-Dame Cathedral received plenty of praise and thanks in Assassin’s Creed Unity after much of the iconic French building was destroyed in a tragic fire. Ubisoft made a large donation to renovate Notre-Dame, and Assassin’s Creed Unity was given as a gift to players so they could contribute to the preservation of culture and historical memory. After that, it is perhaps not so surprising that the French company loves the building, which is now appearing in their latest game, Hyper Scape too.

Hyper Scape was released this week for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
