Nvidia – 2020 Will Be The Best Year In The History Of The Gaming Industry

Nvidia – The CEO drew attention to the rise of new technologies such as ray-tracing, which will also be used in the new consoles.

The year 2020 is one that has felt like an eternity so far, for reasons that are well known, but in one way or another, we are already facing the second half of this very atypical year. A period that will feature the launch of consoles such as the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, with the premiere of long-awaited games such as Cyberpunk 2077, and that, for the CEO of Nvidia, may be the most incredible period for the industry of all its story. Or so Jensen Huang said during the presentation of the company’s results for its second fiscal quarter.

“We expect a very strong second half in the gaming arena,” Huang told investors, adding: “I think this may well be one of the best seasons for video games of all time, and the reason for this is that the PC has become a huge format […] It has become a huge platform to play games in. And second is real-time ray tracing, which is a real success. You see the standard for digital graphics, the games are beautiful, and this really is the next level.”

Developers are gearing up for a big leap” – Jensen Huang

Of course, the above refers mainly to Nvidia’s business expectations in the field of gaming products, although the leader maintains that the second half of 2020 will be a historic period for the entire industry: “The third factor is the launch of consoles. Developers are gearing up for a big leap. And because of how vibrant the video game market is right now, and the number of people around the world now depending on the game from their homes, I think this is going to be the most incredible season ever [for the industry]. ”

Jensen Huang then took the opportunity to highlight the great sales of the Nintendo Switch, a console that uses his company’s technology, before noting that “I think it is going to be a huge second half of the year.” For now, Nvidia has begun to prepare the ground for the next generation by offering full DirectX 12 Ultimate support on its cards, and with a network countdown pointing to the announcement of its new GPUs in September. We will see what lies ahead for us and the company.
