171: The Brazilian Adventures Expand With Console Versions [VIDEO]

Betagames Group is no longer developing 171 exclusively for PC (and yes, that’s not a joke, that IS the title of the game).

Betagames Group’s work will be published by QUByte Interactive, and it won’t just be available on PC (Steam), but also on Xbox Series (Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The multiplatform title has no release date yet. Marivaldo Cabral, the producer of QUByte Interactive told Gematsu that there’s also a PlayStation 5 version, but they are currently waiting for Sony Interactive Entertainment for the final confirmation.

„171 is an open-world action-adventure game in the veins of Grand Theft Auto. Set in the suburbs of a fictitious Brazilian community, it features typically Brazilian landscapes and multiple gameplay mechanics such as vehicle tuning, ranged and melee combat, and open-world exploration,” QUByte Interactive’s overview reads. Yes, the game is openly inspired by the three-dimensional Grand Theft Auto titles, and it’s not set in your typical European or American community, which would make it a unique experience when it launches.

So 171 (which is probably a Brazilian Portuguese term that we don’t understand), which is using Unreal Engine 4, is now in development for PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and – unofficially – PlayStation 5. The game seems far too ambitious at first glance, and let’s hope it won’t fall flat on its face upon release by trying to have a too big of scope, only to fail. Still, let’s be patient and give the Brazilian developers a chance. We might get a South American Grand Theft Auto clone that isn’t that bad! (In a sense, Scarface: The World is Yours was close to it, albeit set in Miami.)

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title.
