The Medium: Even The Xbox Series S Amazed The Developers [VIDEO]

The team didn’t believe when they realized that they are only playing on the Xbox Series S, and not the Xbox Series X.

The dev team behind Observer, Layers of Fear, and Blair Witch has wrapped up work on The Medium (as the game is really around the corner). Jacek Zięba, the producer of the game, had an interesting quote in an interview with VG247: „Yeah, I even played the whole game on [Xbox] Series S like one week ago and I was blown away because I thought I played on [Xbox] Series X. Somebody told me “man, this is Series S.” What! Awesome, wonderful. Of course, you know, there will not be 4K because S does not support 4K, and of course, it will maybe look different a little to Series X because X is twice as powerful, but the overall experience and fun from the game, it is the same. I own the Series S and I can’t wait to play in my home.”

Wojciech Piejko, the lead designer, added: „Yeah, so the graphics are still nice because we’ve got a cool graphic art style and I love the art style of the game. It’s in lower resolution, but it’s still the same great experience.” Zięba responded, „The architecture of Xbox Series S, of this little while box, is just awesome.”

Courtesy of IGN, we get to see the first eighteen minutes of The Medium, recorded on an Xbox Series X, in 4K resolution. Let’s hope the intro cutscene’s brightness will be toned down. The devs have time: The Medium launches on January 28 on Xbox Series and PC (a beefy one is recommended – they strongly recommend playing on an SSD, to begin with), where it will feature ray tracing support (reflections, ambient occlusion, hybrid translucent, and shadows) and even DLSS if you own a GeForce RTX graphics card. The game will also be on Xbox Game Pass.

Let’s hope Bloober Team won’t delay it again.
