One Of Resident Evil: Village’s Actress Passed Away

Jeanette Maus could not defeat cancer, and she has voiced several characters in the next Resident Evil game.

Maus’ main role in Resident Evil: Village was one of the „daughters”  of Lady Dimitrescu, but for us, it will be a posthumous role, as the actress, who previously worked as an acting teacher and a coach (with roles in Charm City Kings and Your Sister’s Siter), passed away on Sunday of colon cancer before Capcom‘s next big title would have hit the market altogether.

The Hollywood Reporter claims that Maus also had Crohn’s disease, and if that wasn’t enough, she also contracted COVID-19. Due to the mounting medical bills, she started a GoFundMe page to help cover her costs. She was being treated at City of Hope in Los Angeles, and she was „making great progress in eliminating the tumours” with the help of chemotherapy and treatments with a machine called the Molecular Enhancer.

Her sudden and unfortunate passing was confirmed on Facebook by her fiancé, writing the following: „It is with a shattered-yet grateful-heart that I inform you that Jeanette Maus passed away late last night due to complications of cancer. I’m really sad, but I’m super proud of her. She fought so hard, with tremendous grace and optimism, inspiring myself and I’m sure many of you.” Capcom also remembered her – here’s what their number one internal dev studio wrote on Twitter: „We here at Capcom R&D 1 are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Jeanette Maus, the talented actress who helped bring several different characters, including our witches to the world in Resident Evil Village. Our hearts go out to her family and loved ones.”

John Rosenfeld Studios, a drama school in West Hollywood, also shared a tribute: „Our hearts are broken today. As many of you now know, our beloved Jeanette Maus passed on to a better place last night at 11:11. The outpouring of support for Dusty and the expressions of grief for Jeanette are a testament to both of them and the beautiful community that Jeanette and Dusty have helped create. Jeanette has been part of the JRS family for almost a decade and became part of the studio’s DNA as a student, teacher, coach and friend. Jeanette was truly an artist and felt truly grateful to live as an artist. She had an indomitable spirit and was hungry to be the best person, the best teacher, the best friend and the best actor she could be. The world lost a force of nature and we will be feeling that for a long time. We are lucky to have known her, and she has touched all of us that knew her. The enormous pain I feel right now is soothed by the fact that I get to witness how much you saw her and appreciated her. Because it would have been a shame if you had missed it. We will make sure that we honour her and we will keep her in our hearts. And Dusty, we are here to hold you up. Jeanette, we love you now and forever.”

Maus’ final role will be in Resident Evil: Village, launching on May 7 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. She only lived for 39 years – may she rest in peace.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
