Resident Evil: Village: The Cracked Version Runs Better Than The Retail On PC!? [VIDEO]

We can now safely say this: even if you have a beefy computer in your possession, Capcom has made a huge mistake with Resident Evil: Village.

The Eastern European story, which we can call Resident Evil 8, launched as a cross-gen title, and it’s also available on PC. However, PC users not only got Denuvo (which itself grossly grew the game’s exe size that puts more pressure on our RAM, plus the CPU requirements get increased…), they also received an additional DRM layer, which was integrated into Denuvo’s VM (virtual machine).

If you played Resident Evil: Village on PC, you might have noticed heavy stutters or frame rate drops while fighting Lady Dimitrescu’s daughters, or if you defeated an enemy, regardless of your PC’s specs. Until now, we suspected that Denuvo is to blame for it (but don’t worry, Irdeto’s anti-tamper still increases PC requirements, plus it needs to „call home” often, which will cause issues regarding game preservation; something that Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, wants to concentrate on…).

But, a cracker by the name of Empress, has released a cracked version of Resident Evil: Village. In its NFO, they wrote that the in-game stutters have been fixed, as Capcom has tied its DRM’s entry points to defeating enemies. These are no longer executed (while Denuvo is still present in the game; however, it is bypassed). This led to another problem: the game seemed to lack a few animations. It led to Empress release a crackfix, which restored the missing animations. So now, the pirated version of the game provides a better experience than a legal Steam copy of Resident Evil: Village.

And now for the final blow: Digital Foundry has released an analysis, which compares the Steam version with the warez version, and the judgment is harsh: Empress’ Resident Evil: Village RUNS BETTER than the legal version. And it can be seen in the video below. This shouldn’t even happen… and the joke here is that Capcom responded to Eurogamer, saying „The team are working on a patch to address PC performance issues, it should be available soon – we’ll have more details shortly.” Remove the DRM altogether, along with Denuvo…
