Golf Club Wasteland recently got a launch trailer, and it is probably one of the most bizarre games in gaming history.
The game takes place in the far future, where most of the ultra-rich left Earth, left most of the population to die. You play as Charlie, one of the many rocket pilots who helped the ultra-rich get to Mars, where they sought refuge.
Driven by guilt, Charlie decides to go back to Earth and play a long round of Golf while the player experiences Charlie’s backstory and gets to listen to Radio Nostalgia From Mars – to remind him life on Mars ain’t so bad.
Golf Club Wasteland has three modes that the player can select from Story mode, where there is no score counter, and it is there for people who just want to experience the story without any stress. Challenge mode, where after a certain number of strikes, the game puts you back to the beginning of the level if you fail to score.
There is also Iron Mode, where you only get one chance to get it right; otherwise, the game puts you back to the start, which seems to be more abusive than when you miss a 99% chance hit on X-com.
