Pony Island dev’s deck-building horror Inscryption set for October release date

Daniel Mullins is back with a brand new game that is not what it all seems to be, and Inscryption is another mind-bender from him.

Inscryption is a card game with a bit of an edge to it, and some horror elements. You play as a person trapped in a cabin in the woods, trying to escape. The only way to do that is if you play a card game where you have to sacrifice woodland critters to summon ferocious animals to defeat the opposing player. Each card will attack and take damage from any adjacent enemy cards at the end of a turn, but if there’s no card to block an incoming attack, players will take damage directly. Whoever damages their opponent enough will win the game.

While playing the card game parts of Inscryption, you are allowed to roam the cabin, unlock new story bits relating to your captor, and get new cards locked away. There is a map on which you can roam and encounter events or even gain buffs to help you along the journey.

While it is a strange game, Mullins has released a demo that includes a boss battle and a lot of content, so just give the demo a try if you are not sure.

The full version will be out on the 19th of October 2021 on PC, and you can check out a trailer for the game below.
