TECH NEWS – Sony launches “Perfect for PlayStation®5” campaign for BRAVIA XR TVs specifically designed to work ideally with the PlayStation 5 (PS5™) gaming console system, delivering the right gaming experience with visionary graphics and sound.

 

Perfect for PlayStation 5″ TVs include two brand new PS5-exclusive features: automatic HDR Tone mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode. For compatible games, they support frame rates of up to 120fps at the super-sharp 4K resolution defined by HDMI 2.1. In addition, the Z9J models deliver exceptional smoothness and responsiveness for combat, sports and high-performance, fast-paced action games with just 6.0ms input lag.

Sony BRAVIA XR TVs deliver stunningly realistic images with vivid colours and eye-catching contrast. All this is complemented by the screen’s unique sound technology that puts you right in the middle of the action, both in games and movies.

Automatic HDR Tone Mapping

The automatic HDR Tone Mapping* function instantly optimises HDR settings when the PS5 is set up. The console automatically detects each BRAVIA TV model and selects the most suitable HDR setting for your TV accordingly. Thanks to the optimised HDR Tone Mapping level to match the BRAVIA display specification, crucial details and colours are visible even in high contrast scenes. In Gran Turismo™ 7, objects on the track appear more detailed, allowing the player to react more easily to in-game events.

Auto Genre Picture Mode

BRAVIA XR TVs can detect whether the user is playing a game or watching a movie/series. With the Auto Genre Picture Mode feature, the set automatically switches to Game Mode when playing a game, which minimizes Input Lag, allowing for quick response to on-screen action. When consuming movies via PS5 console, streaming providers or Ultra HD Blu-ray™ disc, Standard Mode shifts the focus to picture processing for more expressive visuals.
Auto Genre Picture Mode will be available on PS5 and BRAVIA TVs via a future software update in late 2021.

 

New sound technologies

Sony BRAVIA XR televisions are a great match for a number of Sony audio products, including the HT-A9 home cinema system or the HT-A7000 and HT-A5000 speakers*. Products that can be connected directly to the PS5 console can also be used to experience the automatic HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode features of BRAVIA XR.
