MOVIE NEWS – “It would be a lot of fun to do a cool, modern version of Captain Britain,” says Henry Cavill.

 

Henry Cavill is considered one of Hollywood’s most coveted hotties and has played one of the most popular superheroes and perhaps one of the most important in DC: Superman. However, the actor has considered acting more characters that involve action, adventure, and all that belong to the world of comics, although not precisely with DC Comics.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Henry Cavill confessed that he would like to play a Marvel character (yes, direct competition from DC).

Throughout the talk, they reviewed a little the British artistic career, which began in 2001 with the movie Laguna (2001), although his world fame was achieved thanks to the DC tapes, where he played Super-Man in The man of Steel (2013), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Justice League (2017) and Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021).

However, he accepted that he would like to play a Marvel hero; To be more precise, he spoke of a more modern version of Captain Britain, just like Captain America.

“I will never say a Marvel character is already being played by someone else because everyone is doing a great job. However, I have the internet, and I have seen various rumours about Captain Britain. It would be a lot of fun to do an excellent, modern version of that like they modernized Captain America. There’s something funny about it, and I love being English,“ Henry Cavill added.

Captain Britain first appeared in 1976 in the comic ‘Captain Britain Weekly # 1 ′; this comic series was introduced by writer Chris Claremont, artist Alan Davis, and writer Alan Moore. Currently, it appears in American comics published by Marvel Comics.

This superhero is called Brian Braddock; he is the son of Dr James Braddock, once an Otherworldly inhabitant, and his wife, Elizabeth. After the death of his parents in a laboratory accident, Brian was awarded a grant to the Darkmoor Center for Nuclear Research.

When a great criminal attacked the plant, Brian tried to seek help, so he took a trip on his motorcycle, with which he crashed in a near-fatal accident. The wizard Merlin and his daughter, Omniversal Guardian Roma, see Brian badly injured and heal him. They are the ones who offer him the opportunity to be the superhero Captain Britain, which he accepts.

At the moment, no film focused on this character has yet come out, as he was finally chosen to defend the laws of his homeland, Bran Brittany, where Henry Cavill is also from; probably that’s why he empathizes with this Marvel character.

After these statements, which have gone around the world and moved more than one fan of the actor and the comic franchise, Marvel Studios may consider the possibility of creating a film that tells the story of the British superhero. Perhaps one of the strongest candidates to take this role is Henry Cavill, although he has also confessed that he does not intend to leave his role as The Man of Steel.
