Imagine a new Zelda in Unreal Engine 5 [VIDEO]

Lost Woods is a Zelda concept demo inspired by Majora’s Mask and other games

While The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is, for many one of the most beautiful video games we have been able to enjoy in recent years, the universe of Hyrule continues to motivate different creators to imagine how a video game could be with the most realistic graphics possible on the market, in this case trying to recreate some of its most iconic elements through Unreal Engine 5.

This has been the case of OotavidMann, who via YouTube has left a conceptual piece of what a new game could look like through the use of Epic Games’ new graphics engine. It’s a minute-long video, clearly inspired by three of the most beloved video games by fans of the Nintendo series: Majora’s Mask, Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past.

The Legend of Zelda: Lost Woods is the name of the demo and makes use of two Unreal Engine 5 tools, UE5’s built-in dynamic global illumination and reflection system known as Lumen, as well as Nanite meshes.

A while back, a fan project to port Ocarina of Time to Unreal 4 looked pretty cool, improving both the lighting of the N64 classic in its 3DS version, as well as its textures.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 is scheduled for release this coming year if the most optimistic deadlines for the video game are met. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 was released during E3 2021 with a first gameplay trailer to the delight of more than a few of its fans.
