Henry Cavill Reportedly Interested In Taking Part In Amazon’s Mass Effect Series

Henry Cavill continues to confirm his passion for video games during The Witcher promotional tour

The adaptation of the Mass Effect universe for the small screen has been rumoured for months. Nothing is certain at the moment, but there is one clear contender for the lead role, Henry Cavill. At least, that’s what the British actor said in a recent interview, although he has set his own conditions.

I’d really like to be in the series, but it depends on what they want to do,” he replied in a chat with GamesRadar. “Adaptations can be more or less faithful. When I like a product, I prefer the adaptation to change the original material as little as possible, so it depends,” added the man who also plays Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher series distributed by Netflix.

It is unclear whether this answer hints at early talks about the role, assuring that he will only sign on to the series if he is assured of a product that respects the much-loved sci-fi action role-playing series from BioWare and EA. In fact, in the interview, Henry Cavill claimed to be passionate about video games. “I didn’t play Andromeda. I tried, but I was too busy at the time. But I loved the first three. They were really brilliant. They’d be perfect for a movie or TV series,” the actor added.

A possible Mass Effect adaptation was advanced by Henry Cavill himself several months ago when a photo on his Instagram hinted at a possible Mass Effect script. More recently, there were reports of Amazon’s interest in developing a Mass Effect TV series, though nothing is official at this time.

Mass Effect does indeed return to video games soon, with a new game already in development and a remaster released in the spring. As for Henry Cavill, we’ll be able to see him in the second season of The Witcher on 17 December.
