You Can’t Wear Rings In Elden Ring – The Creator Explained Why

In previous From Software games, you could wear rings to improve your stats and explore the game mechanics, but that won’t be possible in Elden Ring.

Elden Ring is one of the most anticipated games of the coming year; From Software, in collaboration with George R. R. Martin, is set to bring a completely innovative and groundbreaking program to the table. These hallmarks will be evident in both the innovative mechanics and those that are conspicuously absent, and this is the case with the game’s rings. Unlike in other Souls games, these items will not be part of character building.

“They will be unique items with their own history and events that influence the story” – Hidetaka Miyazaki

Considering that rings have already been incorporated into other From Software titles, Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game’s creator, spoke about this in the latest issue of EDGE magazine, as reported by wccftech: “There are several reasons for this decision. Firstly, yes, we’ve explored rings as equipable items in many previous games (Dark Souls in particular), and the current talismans allow us to approach these ideas in a different way, with a wider range of designs.”

However, From Software reserves a unique role for these items in Elden Ring: “The second reason is that rings exist as ‘finger rings’ in this game, of course, but more as unique items surrounded by story and unique character events. That’s why we wanted to give them a special position in the Elden Ring world and make them special in terms of talismans.”

Unfortunately, we will have to wait until at least 25 February to see the new face of the rings, which is not easy given the many spoiler rumours and the heightened excitement surrounding the game’s release…
