MOVIE NEWS – The nominations for the Razzie Awards 2022 have been announced, and Bruce Willis has been given his own category.

 

 

Every star in Hollywood would be over the moon to have a category dedicated to him at an awards ceremony, but only Bruce Willis has been given the honour this year. However, it’s not sure that the Die Hard veteran will have this honour on his CV, as the category in question at the 42nd Razzie Awards is for “Worst Bruce Willis Performance in a Film in 2021”.

The Razzie, which gleefully celebrates the worst films of the year, has gone a step further this year by creating a category for Willis…

… for his eight films released in the past year, all of which have been judged worthy of a Golden Raspberry nomination.

In an unprecedented move, seven films released in 2021 and one in January 2022 will compete for the honour of being named Bruce Willis’ worst film of last year. The list of films includes Cosmic Sin, Deadlock, Apex, Fortress, Midnight in the Switchgrass, Out of Death, Survive the Game, and American Siege.

The decision seems to have been made to give other actors the dubious honour of walking away with the award in the Worst Actor category without Willis stealing the glory from them, and rightly so; otherwise, old Bruce would probably wipe the floor with the rest of them.

Even though Bruce Willis has starred in some of the most incredible action movies of all time, it just goes to show that even the most prominent stars can have a bad day… or, in this case, a bad year. However, although this category is supposed to be a one-off, there’s every chance he’ll be back next year, as Willis has at least seven more direct-to-video films coming out in the next 12 months, including Fortress 2, the sequel to one of this year’s nominated films.

 

 

 

 

When it comes to the Razzie Awards, a handful of films or actors usually get the vast majority of nominations. This year, that dubious honour went to Amy Adams, among others, who scooped nominations in the categories of “Worst Actress” (The Woman in the Window) and “Worst Supporting Actress” (Dear Evan Hansen). However, he is certainly not an actor who is not highly talented and respected, which is another example of why we shouldn’t take it too much to heart when our favourites occasionally make the Golden Raspberry list…
