Nicolas Cage’s The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent Is At 100% On Rotten Tomatoes!

MOVIE NEWS – Nicolas Cage’s latest film has become one of the few films to receive a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Hundreds of films are released every year. It is incredibly rare for any project to get a perfect score on the Rotten Tomatoes review website. Nicolas Cage’s most recent film, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, is the latest to score 100% on the site. The reviews come after the title debuted Saturday night at the SXSW film festival in Austin. The score is also a personal record, the highest in the actor’s long career.

At the time of writing, the film has received only 17 reviews…

…so the percentages are likely to change as new reactions come in. However, the early reception indicates a high level of critical acclaim regardless of the final assessment.

John Defore of The Hollywood Reporter has described the project as “a romp aimed at cultists who have sought out the Crazy Cage performances and forgiven the misfires in between.” Variety’s Owen Glieberman called the film “A commercial comedy that has a delirious good time poking fun at Nicolas Cage, celebrating everything that makes him Nicolas Cage – and, in the end, actually becoming a Nicolas Cage movie, which turns out to be both a cheesy thing and a special thing.” Judy Drye at Indiewire highlighted the mass appeal and comedy when she said, “There’s something for everyone in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. It’s one of the funniest movies of the year.”

So far, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent has better reviews than all of Cage’s other critically acclaimed films on Rotten Tomatoes. His well-reviewed films include 2021’s Pig (96 per cent), 2002’s Adaptation (90 per cent), 1987’s Moonstruck (94 per cent), 1997’s Face/Off (92 per cent), 1993’s Red Rock West and 1995’s Leaving Las Vegas, for which the actor won his first Academy Award.

In 2018, he starred in the underrated action-horror film Mandy, which received a 90 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Two years later, he starred in the Lovecraftian horror project Color Out of Space, which has an 86% approval rating. He has recently won widespread acclaim for his performance in the aforementioned drama, Pig. Many critics are disappointed that Cage did not receive an Oscar nomination for Pig at this year’s awards.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent looks set to be another highlight in his long entertainment career.

Nicolas Cage also has a few more films in the pipeline. In 2022, he will star in two western films, The Old Way and Butcher’s Crossing. Next year, he’ll co-star in the horror-comedy Renfield, about Dracula’s faithful sidekick. Cage himself will play the famous blood-sucking Count.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent will be released in US cinemas on 22 April.
