MOVIE NEWS – Kelly Greyson talks about working with Bruce Willis, who is now being photographed for the first time after his retirement.
Bruce Willis fans and colleagues alike were sad to hear the news of the famous actor’s retirement. It was recently announced that Willis was retiring after being officially diagnosed with aphasia affecting his speech and communication abilities. Actor and stuntperson Kelly Greyson, who has worked with Willis on several films, including Fortress: Sniper’s Eye, said the actor was “going out a legend”.
According to Fox, Willis’ diagnosis suprised Greyson, as she had not previously realised that the actor would have difficulties with working. She hopes that in the future his fans will remember of his legacy and amazing career rather than his health issues.
“I never heard of [his] diagnosis previously. But my memory of working with Bruce is how friendly he was and really, really talented at his role. He’s definitely a professional. He’s going out as a legend with a beautiful career behind him… I have been privileged to work with him numerous times in the last couple years. It was a gift to be able to get to know him as a person and see how authentically kind he is in real-life. The narrative about him right now should be about the amazing career he’s had.”
She also talked about how Willis was so nice on set, despite rumours that he was difficult to work with. The veteran actor was friendly with everyone and often spent time with the cast and crew.
“Thinking back, he was more down to earth and engaging and kind-hearted than I would have anticipated. A lot of times stardom gets to people’s heads. He definitely is super suave on-camera but just in real life he did embody those things. That’s a huge compliment to someone of that international notoriety for them to also just be a good human… As far as being on set and interacting with people, yes, he would hang out and watch on the screen. He’d watch some of the actors doing their roles. He’d sit and talk with the director. I think he interacted well just on a personal level with people.”
Willis’ wife, Emma Heming Willis posted some photos on Instagram with the hashtag #offthegrid: “Mom & Dad in their favorite habitat.”. Bruce Willis looks great in the new photos posted by his wife on Instagram, enjoying his retirement years. Earlier, his family released a statement saying he was retiring from the film industry after being diagnosed with aphasia:
“To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him,” the statement read. “This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.”
As Willis has been working steadily, with several films in the pipeline that he has already finished shooting and is currently in post-production, the news of his retirement came as a bit of a surprise.
