Tom Cruise Explained Why he Turned Down the Ironman Role

CINEMA NEWS – Tom Cruise has obviously considered playing a superhero who needs to get dressed as opposed to someone who doesn’t.

 

Actor Tom Cruise has long enjoyed portraying action heroes, but never a superhero. Still, many of his characters seem so indestructible that he could even be a superhero. Most recently, Cruise revived the popular role of Ethan Hunt in the Mission Impossible franchise, and Top Gun: Maverick soars with huge blockbuster success. The soon-to-be 60-year-old star revealed how close he was to playing Tony Stark’s Iron Man in the Marvel Movie Universe. The role, of course, was given to Robert Downey Jr., who embraced the character and his armored body.

Prior to the release of Ironman 2008, Cruise was offered the opportunity to play Tony Stark, but refused. It was now open why he had refused. Because the actor has to do a lot of work, doing his own stunt tricks, and so on. there is fame, it seems one of the actor’s priorities was to want control over the project.

Even Cruise admits that Downey is so cohesive with Tony Stark that it’s hard to imagine anyone else in the role. About when he was first approached to play the role of Iron Man and why he declined the role, Cruise explained:

“[Marvel Studios] was looking for me at a certain point in time, and if I do something, I want to do it right. If I commit myself to something, I have to do it so that I know it’s going to be something special. And the way it is I just didn’t feel it would work. I have to be able to make decisions and make the film the best it can be, but it didn’t. “

In another interview, Cruise admitted that he thought Tony Stark’s role was perfect for Robert Downey Jr.

“I love Robert Downey Jr. I can’t imagine anyone else in this role, and I think it’s perfect for him.”

The actor does not rule out once playing a comic book superhero, but says the project should meet his expectations, he said:

“The question is, what’s the story like? Are I interested at all?”

It is not yet known whether Cruise will connect to the MCU or DCEU. In the meantime, the actor seems to enjoy playing Mission impossible type heroes.
