God Of War: Ragnarok: Release Date And Collector’s Editions! [VIDEO]

It is what the rumours have been hinting at lately, but the release date is a bit different from what we’ve been hearing.

The PlayStation Blog has the announcement from Sony Interactive Entertainment and Santa Monica Studio, and the collector’s edition has been unboxed at the same location. The God of War: Ragnarok Launch Edition has the pre-order bonuses (whether you buy the Launch, Collector’s or Jotnar version) and will include Kratos’ Risen Snow armour and the Risen Snow tunic for Atreus, which will be treated as a cosmetic item. To redeem the code, you’ll need an internet connection and a PlayStation Network account, and in-game items will unlock as the story progresses (it applies to other listed in-game items, too!). God of War: Ragnarok Standard Edition is the base edition. You can upgrade from the PlayStation 4 version to PlayStation 5 for $10/€10.

In addition to the game, the Digital Deluxe version will also include Kratos’ Darkdale Armor, Atreus’ Darkdale Attire (cosmetic), Darkdale Blades Handles for the Blades of Chaos, Darkdale Axe Grip for the Leviathan Axe, the official God of War Ragnarok Digital Soundtrack, the Dark Horse Digital Mini Artbook, an avatar set, and a PlayStation 4 theme.

The Collector’s Edition of God of War: Ragnarok comes in a box called the Knowledge Keeper’s Shrine of the triptychs that Kratos and Atreus came across in God of War, depicting the tale of a powerful seer, the Giant Sorceress called Grpa, who was the first to have a vision of Ragnarok. In the box, you will find a printed voucher code for the game on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, a Steelbook Display Case (no game disc included?!), which depicts renditions of the Bear and the Wolf; two-inches Vanir Twins carvings in the same style as Atreus’ wooden toy carvings of the Huldra Brothers from the God of War Collector’s Edition, it completes the set with carvings of the Vanir Twins; the Dwarven dice set, which comes with a quality wood-like finish in a dice bag with a symbol of Yggdrasil on the outside; and a 16-inches Mjolnir replica of Thor’s signature weapon. Everything else from the Digital Deluxe version is also part of the pack.

Finally, the Jotnar Edition of God of War: Ragnarok was designed by the team at Santa Monica Studio. It includes a code voucher, a 7″ vinyl record with music by Bear McCreary, featuring two tracks; the Falcon, Bear, and Wolf pin set representing Faye, Kratos, and Atreus, respectively; this pin set symbolizes our heroes’ family; the Legendary Draupnir ring from Norse Mythology in a red cloth bag; Brok’s dice set with a metallic silver finish with blue detailing (the dice bag features the Huldra Brothers’ brand), the Yggdrasil cloth map, showing each of the Nine Realms within the branches and roots of Yggdrasil, as well as the Vanir carvings, the Mjolnir replica, and the Steelbook, plus the Digital Deluxe contents.

God of War: Ragnarok is available to pre-order from July 15 and is due for release on November 9 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
