Days Gone: The Game’s Creators’ Choice, Sam Witwer Won’t Be The Main Character!

MOVIE NEWS – Two of the franchise’s creators (we can say that now, as there’s a movie adaptation in the works alongside the game for PlayStation 4 and PC) say Sony hasn’t made the right choice.

We reported the other day that Sony is making a film adaptation of the latest game from the team that created Bubsy 3D and the Syphon Filter series under the name Eidetic, and most recently, Days Gone as Bend Studios. We’ve written about it in detail here, but there are developments, as two of the game’s creators, John Garvin and Jeff Ross, who has been highly critical of Sony after he departed from the studio, have also weighed in on the choice of actor to play the lead character, Deacon St. John.

Days Gone will star a Scottish actor, Sam Heughan. He is known for the Outlander series (based on Diana Gabaldon’s books). However, Garvin and Ross do not condemn Heughan. The pair have no problem with him; they think there is another actor who could be a perfect portrayal of Deacon St. John, so they believe Sony could use Sam Witwer instead of Heughan as Days Gone’s protagonist.

Garvin re-posted what Ross had written on Twitter with a simple “This”. Ross thinks that it’s ridiculous that Witwer didn’t get the role of Deacon St. John because he physically resembles him, he is not far from the character in looks, and (and here we quote Ross’ comment verbatim) “he can m___erf___ing act.” Witwer has been in several TV series (Grimm, Being Human, Supergirl, and he also had a small cameo in the first season of The Walking Dead).

Sony did not consult the game’s creators about the adaptation. The company didn’t ask Garvin and Ross who they thought would be an ideal protagonist, so Sony ignored the pair, who would have named Witwer immediately…
