This is How Grand Theft Auto 4 Remake Would Look With Unreal Engine 5! [VIDEO]

A concept video imagines what a Grand Theft Auto 4 remake could look like if the game was made using Unreal Engine 5.

In 2008, Rockstar Games released Grand Theft Auto 4 to widespread critical acclaim. The open-world action game quickly became one of the best-selling and highest-rated games of all time. Rockstar expanded Grand Theft Auto 4 with DLC expansions following new characters and supported the game’s online multiplayer servers for years. However, the massive success of Grand Theft Auto 5 and GTA Online overshadowed GTA 4. And so while Grand Theft Auto 5 was released on modern platforms, GTA 4 remained trapped on older hardware.

There have been rumors that Rockstar Games is considering a remake or remaster of Grand Theft Auto 4, though those plans have apparently been put on hold to allow the studio to focus on Grand Theft Auto 6. Whether or not there’s any truth to the GTA 4 remaster rumors is yet to be seen, but in the meantime, fans can get an idea of what it would be like thanks to a new video uploaded by YouTube channel TeaserPlay.

TeaserPlay is a YouTube channel that produces trailers and concept videos for hypothetical video game projects using Unreal Engine 5. The latest video from TeaserPlay recreates Grand Theft Auto 4 using Unreal Engine 5, showing what Liberty City could look like with improved reflections, lighting and more. In the video, GTA 4 protagonist Niko Bellic walks through different areas of Liberty City, showing what the game could look like both in terms of cutscenes and gameplay.

This is not the first time that TeaserPlay has made a video based on the Grand Theft Auto series. In fact, TeaserPlay has already produced several GTA-themed videos, including one that evokes the fast food ordering scene from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and the famous Big Smoke. TeaserPlay also produced a video imagining what a possible Grand Theft Auto 6 set in Vice City could look like.

These concept videos are fun and maybe make fans hungry for the real thing. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Rockstar Games will be remastering or remaking Grand Theft Auto 4 anytime soon. However, according to reliable insiders, GTA 6 will receive new cities over time, and one would imagine that Liberty City would be a prime candidate for a DLC map. So even if a true GTA 4 remake never happens, maybe fans will still get to see an updated version of Liberty City at some point in the future.
