A New Rumour Suggests that Elden Ring Will Get New DLC and a Ray-Tracing Update

A new rumor claims that Elden Ring will get new levels and a brand new DLC based on the game’s otherwise inaccessible coliseums and arenas.

FromSoftware has yet to reveal plans for DLC for Elden Ring, but it appears the developer is working on an expansion based on the game’s colosseums. Elden Ring was released in February 2022 to critical acclaim and is currently the highest-viewed game of 2022, as well as the PS5 and Xbox Series X generations.

The Elden Ring received a new update a few days ago that introduced a number of balance changes, including spell buffs. They also added separate damage scaling for PvP, so FromSoftware can balance both PvE and PvP separately. This new patch reduced Ashes of War’s attack power in PvP everywhere, while increasing poise damage for all weapons’ normal moves. Elden Ring update 1.07 also seems to have arrived with new assets that hint at an upcoming DLC.

As reported by Video Games Chronicle, a modder named Sekiro Dubi found traces of new content coming to Elden Ring in this patch. Sekiro Dubi claims to have found new map files, tools and textures based on the Elden Ring Coliseum. Also noted is a new hairstyle, map files, and other subtle changes coming in this expansion. Sekiro Dubi also shared an image of a huge, untextured gate alongside the tweet.

Sekiro Dubi is the same person who restored one of the Elden Ring’s coliseums to functionality in April. A Site of Grace was also found within this area, suggesting that the area may have been cut from the base game, or that FromSoftware may have already started work on the DLC. It seems that the information we found was correct when it suggested that future DLCs could include an arena.

There have been rumors of an Elden Ring multiplayer DLC featuring these coliseums for a while now. However, fans will have to wait for FromSoftware’s official announcement to know more specific details. It is unknown whether these arenas will be used only for PvP or PvE matches, or if they will be part of a larger expansion pack.

Elden Ring is a massive game with many hours of main story and optional content. The map is massive and probably contains more regions, levels, and bosses than any other game in FromSoftware’s catalog. However, many players have probably already finished the playthrough, so this DLC might convince them to jump into the world of the Elden Ring one more time.
