Free access periods are also planned for Battlefield 2042 on all platforms in December.
DICE has confirmed that Battlefield 2042 will be joining the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play libraries shortly.
Battlefield 2042 will be available to Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play subscribers “with the release of Season 3,” the studio said in a video development update released Thursday, which can be viewed below.
A launch date for Season 3 has not yet been confirmed. However, Season 2, which began in late August, is ending.
Xbox players can try the title for free from December 1-4, Steam players from December 1-5, and PlayStation players from December 16-23.
Although publisher EA previously pledged to release four seasons of live service content for Battlefield 2042 over a year, DICE said today that additional content is coming.
“We’re already in pre-production on new content that will come after Season 4 next year,” the studio revealed.
Season 3, titled Escalation, will be released in full later this month. In response to Battlefield 2042’s “polarizing” specialists, a class system will be introduced in early 2023 with the game’s 3.2 update.
“In seasons three and four, we’ll continue to bring evolved versions of our existing maps from launch,” DICE also said. “You’re already playing these reworked versions of Kaleidoscope, Renewal and Orbital, and in Season 3, you’ll get to play on new versions of Manifest and Breakaway.”
