This is How The Mandalorian Series Makes the Star Wars Sequels Better

MOVIE NEWS – The popular sci-fi series on Disney+,The Mandalorian is creating more and more connections with the Star Wars new trilogy, and making the galaxy far, far away more colorful and interesting.

The Mandalorian’s first season told a simple story about a bounty hunter protecting a special child and facing the former Empire’s last remnants. In the second season, however, the series became more daring. They drew from the rich history and mythology of the Star Wars universe, introducing important characters and locations such as Ahsoka Tano, Bo-Katan Kryze, Tython or the darksaber.

The third season went even further on this path, and we found more and more references and connections to the Star Wars new trilogy, which marked the end of the Skywalker saga. In the latest episode, for example, we learned why Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) wants Grogu’s blood to create clones for Emperor Palpatine, who somehow returned to life. This could explain how the First Order and the Final Order were created, which were the main enemies in the sequels.

But this is not the only connection between The Mandalorian and the sequels. The series also featured Commandant Brendol Hux (Brian Gleeson), who was the founder of the First Order and Armitage Hux’s (Domhnall Gleeson) father. In addition, Captain Gilad Pellaeon (Xander Berkeley) also appeared, who was Grand Admiral Thrawn’s right-hand man in the EU. The series may be preparing him for a similar role in the Disney timeline.

With all these connections, The Mandalorian not only enriches and expands the Star Wars universe, but perhaps also makes the sequels better. Many fans were not satisfied with these films, because they felt that they did not fit well with the previous films, and did not provide adequate explanation and background story for certain events and characters. The Mandalorian, however, gives an opportunity to fill these gaps, and thus make the sequels more enjoyable.
