Metro Last Light was released in 2013 and is the direct sequel to Metro 2033 from 2010. The game is based on the novels by Dmitry Glukhovsky and tells the story of a young soldier Artyom who tries to survive in the underground tunnels of the Moscow metro after a nuclear war. The game is an atmospheric shooter that puts great emphasis on the story and world-building. Artyom is a likable protagonist who has many interesting allies.
Metro Last Light is not a typical action game but a challenging survival horror. The enemies are dangerous so you have to play smart use stealth and choose the right moment to attack. In the game you have to face not only humans but also mutant monsters that lurk in the dark. In some missions you have to go up to the city surface which is highly radiated. In these parts you have to use a gas mask but if you run out of air filters you will be in trouble. Therefore resource management is also important.
The free offer of Metro Last Light only applies to the original Complete Edition which includes the base game and all DLCs. The Redux version is an updated edition released in 2014 which improves the graphics animations and some gameplay elements as well. The Redux version is not free but it can be bought very cheaply in the Eneba online store: it is only around $3. This is a very good deal for an excellent game.
If you have not played Metro Last Light yet or it has been dusting in your backlog for a long time then now is the opportunity to get this one of the best shooters of the past generation for free. The latest part of the Metro series was Metro Exodus which was released in 2019 and got an Enhanced Edition in 2021 for PS5 Xbox Series X/S and PC. The developer 4A Games is reportedly working on a sequel as well.
