PS5 vs Xbox Series X: Which is Better in High on Life? Surprising Differences! [VIDEO]

High on Life is a fun shooter that was originally only available on Xbox consoles, but is now available on PlayStation. But which version is better and prettier? The experts at Digital Foundry took a close look at the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions and came up with some surprising results. The PS5 version offers a much higher resolution, but it doesn’t come for free.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions both offer two visual modes: Performance (60 fps) and Quality (30 fps). But there’s a big difference between the two. The PS5 version focuses on pixel count, offering full 4K resolution in Quality mode and around 1800p in Performance mode. In the Xbox Series X version, however, both modes are 1440p, and the only difference is in the visual extras (Quality mode has better lighting and ambient occlusion, for example). The same goes for the Xbox Series S version, but both modes are 1080p.

In the PS5 version, however, there are no such noticeable differences in visual quality, and there are some animation bugs that were previously present in the Xbox version but have been fixed. In addition, the PS5 version doesn’t run as well as it should, with performance mode sometimes dropping to around 40 fps (quality mode holds steady at 30 fps). In contrast, the Xbox Series X/S version runs perfectly in both modes.

So it seems that the PS5 version is less carefully optimized than the Xbox Series X/S versions, but in return you get a much sharper image. Overall, the Xbox version seems to be the better product, but it’s up to you to decide what’s more important to you.
