Baldur’s Gate 3 has received the Patch 2 update, which offers performance improvements, multiplayer features and the first character epilogue expansion.

 

 

Baldur’s Gate 3 just received Patch 2, a massive update that brings improved optimization, bug fixes, and a multiplayer character dismissal mode. This patch also marks the beginning of BG3’s journey to expanding aspects of social dialogue and epilogues to improve the game’s completion.

A few days earlier, BG3 released a community update. It hinted that a second major patch was just around the corner.

According to Larian Studios, the focus of this update was mainly on improving the performance and execution of Act 3.

Now, Baldur’s Gate 3 has rolled out this impressive update. While not as absurdly large as the first BG3 patch, patch 2 is still huge. It makes a lot of changes to reduce crashes and optimize performance. Patch 2 also improves the user interface and controller accessibility. It also adds new quality-of-life features for solo and multiplayer play.

A Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 2 introduces the Withers’ Wardrobe of Wayward Friends. It’s a new feature that allows players to temporarily dismiss multiplayer characters if they want to play that save with their friends Tav in the party. In addition, new epilogue scenes have been added to Karlach. Also, some lines in Act 1 and 2, both as companion and Origin avatar. The size of the save files has been reduced. Handling old saves has been made easier. New filter and user interface options make inventory and character management easier. And optimization improvements improve performance across the game, especially in Act 3, which ran poorly for many PC BG3 players.

Karlach is the first of many epilogues BG3 plans to expand. The endings of each character’s story were one of the main criticisms the game received. Therefore, they plan to improve them to strengthen the game’s final act.

Larian developers have already teased that they will be bringing some actors back to the studio to add more lines so that players can expect even more satisfying epilogues for other Baldur’s Gate 3 Origin characters in the coming months.

One of the most impressive things about Patch 2 is that it arrived a week after Patch 1. The latter itself came just a few weeks after the game was released. Considering that BG3 has received several hotfixes in that time, it’s clear that Larian Studios is committed to ensuring their new CRPG is the best possible experience for all players.
