While no official release date has been announced, HBO is planning to premiere the second season of House of Dragons in 2024. This is a surprise, given the nature of the highly anticipated fantasy series and the proximity of the first season’s premiere in 2022. Despite the recent SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, fans are excited to speculate where the story will go next season. Anticipation for the next instalment of the award-winning series continues to grow.

It has already been announced that the scripts for the second season of House of Dragons were completed before the WGA strike began. On the other hand, as far as the filming is concerned, all the actors are from the UK and are part of the non-SAG-AFTRA contract known as Equity. This meant that filming went smoothly and the actors were able to work without disruption.

The first season of the Game of Thrones prequel was a success for HBO, premiering to more than 10 million viewers, the highest audience in HBO’s history. House of Dragons won Best Drama Series at the 80th Golden Globes and received nine Primetime Emmy nominations. The second season has already been completed and HBO will do its best to present the next season on time.
