Is Apple Tricking Us With USB-C Charging On iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max?

TECH NEWS – A user says he couldn’t charge the device itself using the USB-C connection, even though the port can do that…

The last time we saw their proprietary connector called Lightning was on the iPhone 14 Pro. We see USB-C, the industry standard, on this year’s 15, but it doesn’t seem to work properly when a power adapter is plugged in. On Reddit, a user shared his experience connecting his iPhone 15 Pro to an Anker Power Bank.

The result was a bit surprising, as the Anker product did not start charging the Apple phone, but vice versa: the new iPhone started charging the power bank. Anker has stated that the phone should be charged from the USB-A port instead, and it is not yet known if this highly unusual bug has been fixed. We are not referring to the fact that you can charge another phone from its own battery (you can connect two iPhone 15 Pro’s together so that the model with the higher percentage can charge the weaker one), but that the power bank did not do what the user expected it to do.

It was a similar situation when the iPhone 15 Pro charged the iPad Pro, and so the Cupertino company would have to release another iOS update to get the power flowing properly to the right device, even though Apple has come up with a useful solution for its smaller products (Apple Watch, AirPod…). They should step in and change the way the iPhone 15 Pro identifies devices: if it’s a power bank, it should take power from it, not feed it…

In any case, the USB-C port has also opened up a new possibility for mobile gaming, allowing you to connect your iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max to an external monitor and then play games on a larger display with a controller thanks to the A17 Pro chip. The problem is that iOS 17 is still not very mature.
