Xbox Game Pass: Huge Hit Games Coming To The Service In 2024?!

Activision Blizzard has shared its plans for Xbox Game Pass, leaving open the possibility of Diablo IV being added to Game Pass in 2024.

Activision Blizzard gave a first glimpse into their plans for Xbox Game Pass after the Microsoft deal closed. They said they expect to start bringing Activision and Blizzard games to the service next year.

Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard is expected to close this Friday.

Despite this, the company said in a statement posted on X/Twitter today that titles such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Diablo IV should not be expected to be added to Game Pass this year.

“As we continue to work toward regulatory approval of the Microsoft deal, we’ve been getting some questions about whether our upcoming and recently launched games will be available via Game Pass,” says the statement. “While we do not have plans to put Modern Warfare III or Diablo IV into Game Pass this year, once the deal closes, we expect to start working with Xbox to bring our titles to more players worldwide. And we anticipate that we would begin adding games into Game Pass some time in the course of next year.”

What titles could start coming to Game Pass once the deal is finalised is one of the main questions. Microsoft is still working to push the deal through.

This was addressed back in June in the big FTC lawsuit, during which Xbox VP Sarah Bond pointed out that the agreement currently in place prevents Call of Duty from coming to Game Pass before January 2025.

However, that doesn’t rule out games like Diablo IV coming to the service next year. Along with hundreds of other games released by Activision Blizzard. Microsoft’s massive acquisition of Bethesda has brought many of the publisher’s games to Xbox Game Pass. Among them are games from the Doom, Elder Scrolls and Fallout franchises.

This is just the latest news to emerge about the closing of the $69 billion acquisition. The Verge reports that the deal is expected to close a few days before the October 18 deadline. The latter was agreed upon between Microsoft and Activision after lengthy battles in various courts.
