PlayStation 5 Slim’s Release Date Leaked?

There will also be a Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 bundle, which makes sense as all the big PlayStation Studios games get a console+game bundle.

It’s now official that a smaller, but not cheaper (!?) model of the PlayStation 5 is coming soon, which will also replace the base edition currently available (the same goes for the digital edition), but so far all Sony has said is that the redesigned machine will be available from November, before slowly rolling out to other regions. There will also be a standard version with the Ultra HD Blu-ray drive (still €550) and a digital version without the drive (€450; in the US, by the way, the price has gone up by $50!), but if we change our minds, we can always buy an optical drive later (how did $80 become €120?), but it’s a bit cheeky to charge €30 for the vertical stand…

On Twitter, the ever-reliable billbil-kun of PlayStation Plus wrote on the French website Dealabs that the PlayStation 5 Slim will be available in the US and Japan from November 10. He also wrote about the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 bundle, which will include the smaller PS5. This seems a bit unusual, but he says that this bundle will be available from November 8… maybe we should reverse the two dates, because then it would make sense.

Speaking of Spider-Man, James Stevenson, director of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, posted on Twitter that there is no New Game+ in the game by default, and that you won’t be able to replay missions at first, but Insomniac Games will be adding it before the end of the year, suggesting that you also install the Day One patch: “The disc contains the entire game and is playable from start to finish with no patch or online requirements. However, for the best experience, we strongly encourage physical/disc players to download the 1.001.002 update on launch day – before experiencing the opening missions for the first time. This update provides a polish to the Gold Master version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 available on disc that improves the opening sections of the game and includes other general refinements to your Spidey experience, including some additional accessibility options”.

So there you have it.
